Biotechnology Research Centre
The Biotechnology Research Center (BRC), part of the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), was established to contribute to UAE research priorities across several emerging fields, utilizing molecular, cellular and digital technologies to develop the human expertise and biotech sovereignty of the emirates. The BRC is addressing unmet needs in advanced bio-robotics, in environmental applications such as new desalination and agricultural technologies, and it aims to enable better healthcare outcomes through molecular and genomic strategies, and AI enhanced bioinformatics and biomedicine.

Responsibilities:
Perform statistical analysis on clinical/medical/biological data pertaining disease progress with the aim of predict disease outcome (i.e., with prognostic value).
Use available methods for multivariate analysis for the stratification of patients.
Collaborate with the biotech center (BRC) wet-lab facilities to request/conduct experiments at the cell or molecular (i.e., gene/protein) level to validate statistical/analytical findings.
Assist in scouting activities in local/international clinics or pharmaceutical companies to identify exploitable results.
Contribute to securing relevant Intellectual Property on the team’s projects
Assist team members with constructive criticisms of manuscripts preparation, rehearsals of talks, etc.
Contribute to team meetings by reporting ongoing works and giving feedback to colleagues on their progress reports.
Maintain a technology watch on emerging biotech trends in his/her area of expertise and disseminate the relevant information to team members.
Contribute to outreach activities directed to the public, during science fairs, students’ visits, and for relevant public events.
Generally, contribute to fostering a friendly and productive group relationship
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in conducting research in the use/development of mathematical and statistical methods to perform analysis of clinical/biolab data
Basic understanding of cell and molecular biology
Good level knowledge of computer programming in a high-level language (e.g., Python) and/or in a high-level programming environment (e.g., R, Matlab/Octave, Mathematica)
Knowledge of Machine Learning methods and libraries is a plus
Good track record of scientific publications
Demonstrable abilities for effective English written and oral communication.

Qualifications:
PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related field.
Master’s Degree in a relevant field preferred.
