Assistant Professor of Mathematical Health and Disease Modelling

  • 15 Dec 2021
  • Roskilde University, Denmark

The Assistant Professor will be affiliated with Centre for Mathematical Modeling - Human Health and Disease, which is part of the Section of Mathematics and Physics within the Department of Science and Environment, see https://candidate.hr-manager.net/ApplicationInit.aspx?cid=1310&ProjectId=146603&DepartmentId=18970&MediaId=5&SkipAdvertisement=False

One of the focus areas within the research centre is mathematical modelling and analysis of cancers of the blood forming system in close collaboration with clinicians. These cancers often require aggressive treatments and have a poor prognosis. Personalized prediction of treatment response and disease progression is of great interest. Up to now the impact of different mutations and regulatory signals on disease dynamics is insufficiently understood. Mathematical models can help to close this gap and to better understand fundamental disease mechanisms. This field of research at Roskilde University has recently been strengthened by a Lundbeck Foundation Fellowship (Principal Investigator, Prof. Thomas Stiehl, Aachen University and RUC, http://www.thomas-stiehl.de/) and the Assistant Professor will be an important collaborator in this project encompassing PhD students and faculty and co-supervised by Prof. Johnny Ottesen and Assoc. Prof. Morten Andersen. See http://dirac.ruc.dk/cancitis/
